IBM i Mainframe Integration

IBM i Adapters

TIBCO Adapters provide pre-built integration with target systems and can be used by services created in TIBCO BusinessWorks™. The following IBM i adapters are available:

  • TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for IBM i
  • TIBCO Adapter for Files (IBM i)

TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for IBM i

TIBCO ActiveMatrix Adapter for IBM i enhances an organization's SOA initiatives in allowing bidirectional interactions between TIBCO applications and applications running on IBM i. Through the Adapter, TIBCO applications can invoke RPG and COBOL programs on IBM i, or write messages to IBM i data queues. Conversely, the TIBCO Adapter can retrieve messages from IBM i data queues and send those messages to TIBCO applications.

TIBCO Adapter for Files (IBM i)

TIBCO Adapter for Files (IBM i) provides bi-directional access between files on IBM i and the TIBCO messaging infrastructure. It is typically used to transfer files from IBM i to TIBCO applications resident on other platforms. It's especially useful in batch environments but can also be used in real time.

TIBCO EMS Client for IBM i

Client applications running on IBM i can use industry-standard APIs to interact with TIBCO Enterprise Message Service™ servers running on an open systems operating platform. C and COBOL sample clients are provided for IBM i.

The client supports:

  • Publishing and subscribing from applications
  • JMS-compliant messages in addition to TIBCO Enterprise Message Service-compliant messages
  • Certified message delivery
  • Reliable (topic), guaranteed and transactional (queues) message delivery

TIBCO Rendezvous Messaging

The TIBCO Rendezvous® messaging system is fully supported on the IBM i platform. In addition, the Rendezvous Application Programming Interface (API) is available for development of custom applications for IBM i. The API is available for programming in both C and Java.

System Monitoring with TIBCO Hawk for IBM i

TIBCO Hawk®, which is distributed IT monitoring and management software, can be used by companies running IBM i systems. Support is provided for agents, which monitor and act upon local operating conditions, and micro-agents, which act as an interface to managed applications.
